Ancient Rhythms

walking through the woods
sinking through two inches of crusty snow
to the frozen earth below

with each breath
winter enlivening
step after step
pausing and letting the quiet stillness
slow and sync
rhythms heart breath blood
a deeper cadence

she commenced her walk
with an ancient rhythm
natural calm alert

now part of the woods and shore
she walked among
~

to enjoy watery images from around he world

To be a part of this blue-tinged winter scene "rhythms heart breath blood" - is a special gift. Your photos allow me access.

Such gorgeous captures, Tammy, and they did make me feel just a bit homesick -- I raised my family in Montana and I miss it still! Hope your new year is off to a great start!

Lovely Tammie, I love the snow, but some say we might not get any more this year. I wish Scotty would beam me over to Montana or a little further north.

Is that fog in the top shot? I don't know which I like better. Does the water stay open all winter>

The verse is perfect.

hello Sandy,
above the mountains are clouds and lower in the image is misty fog rising from the river.

only when there are many days of deep cold like -15F does the river freeze. along the river is plenty of ice that changes with each moment. That river is very close to Canada and flows all year round.

thanks for asking.

Hello Tammie. I was snowed under with completing things in time for Christmas and didn't have time to visit. Now I've been looking back and catching up on your lovely photos since my last visit. Such stunning, majestic scenery and tranquil words. So - I hope you enjoyed very happy Solstice and Christmas holidays, and I wish you a happy, healthy, successful and prosperous 2012. With love,

Pure bliss. This is majestic beyond words. We still have not had snow since the gigantic snowstorm late in October. A little would be nice - just not a lot. :)

snow! glorious snow. I was readng a blogger who quoted that without winter, spring won't be that nice. How true, when I was growing up in Borneo, I wished for snow.

Tammie, I must apologise for blogger. Since 31.Oct., blogger has neglected to alert me to your posts and I am understandably not best pleased since I truly love and appreciate your work and way of looking at the world. I checked right back to where I last left a comment and have now feasted my eyes on all the interim posts.

Hugs . . . Arija
