  8. Trees without their leaves show us their beautiful structure. I love the high-perched nest in that third image and how that nest in the next is nestled within the branches. You have found some real treasures here.
That first photo is so full of gentleness and silence in the way the tree leans against the pale blue of the sky.

  10. Treasures indeed. I am always on a hunt for secret nests that went undiscovered in the summer too! It always amazes me how birds can make such complex structures out of so many different materials! My favourite find is a nest that had horse hair from our horse's tail, wool from our sheep, pink insulation from our horse waterer, shreds of packaging that housed our new shingles, and miscellaneous plants entwined in the branches and mud. What a find! Thanks for sharing your treasures!

  11. the second one has something very intriguing: it looks like the bird was not willing to leave his nest and is completely covered with snow ! With little bit of fantasy you can see his shape!

This year we have really very very warm winter.... truly exceptional....

  22. What a lovely part of the world and it looks beautiful in the snow. It is amazing how the nests are so obvious once the leaves fall from the trees, but they would be completely hidden in the summer.
Thank you for dropping by my blog.

  28. Tammie Lee, these photos are so colorful and the contrasts so dramatic! LOVE THEM! And yes, I too enjoy seeing the bare bones of the trees in winter to see the treasures...the little (or rather, LARGE) squirrel nests and more. Thank you for visiting, and thank you for this photographic poetry today. Anita

  29. Hi Tammie. It was so nice to hear from you (it made my day)!

I had forgotten that you were from Montana. My new best friend, Ariel, hails from Billings, Montana--a Magic City indeed and an ideal place to raise magical papillons!

Your pictures are, as always, superlative. And speaking of frosty nests, little Ariel is fascinated by the freezer compartment of my fridge. I think she wants to make herself an icy nest there. It must remind her of home!
