Spring Drive, Flathead Lake Montana

to behold a tree in nature
is a joy indeed

I drove around Flathead lake yesterday
it is the largest natural freshwater lake in the
western US

i found a few yellow bells sunbathing

clouds danced in the sky
cloaked mountain peaks
then would disappear
only to return in new shapes

 these flowers are so tiny
i nearly missed seeing them

the sun shone down on us
and
warmed the land
trees budding catkins

spring
is a beautiful thing

    1. Lasse,
In the mountain peak photo, those are the Mission Mountains. They are gorgeous and get great sunsets.
In the second photo looking up the lake, the snow capped mountains, I believe those are the Rocky Mountains that run N and S in the US and into Canada.

    1. I don't know what kind of tree it is. Just think it is beautiful and love that there was nothing man made in the way of taking it's portrait. I find that to be rare.

    1. Tammie Lee, At the same time you commented I noticed that someone had visited my blog from Pinedale, Wyoming. Was that you? I worked on a ranch there in summer 1995.

    2. Hi Nick,
I doubt that was me, pretty far from here. I have noticed when i visit people's blog who have the thing on the sidebar showing where their visitors are from, that it says Columbia Falls, MT. when I am visiting. That is an adjacent town to Whitefish where i am from.

  18. Oh Tammie Lee....you captured the heavenly blue of Flathead Lake so beautifully. Blue and green are two colors that have such a calming affect on me, and then the unpunctuated, gentle words that dance on your page and on the comment you left me...SWOON! Yes, we had such fun playing and finding the magic in US.

Have a wonderful spring hunt! Anita

  21. I've been to Flathead Lake when I used to fly into MT to drive to Fernie with Mary. Love the photos of emerging spring in MT. Here in Breck, we are home from a brief visit with spring and are having another blizzard. I'll depend on you for wildflowers for another couple months, Tammie!

  23. I am guessing that is the swan mountain range from the south side of Flathead Lake... I am eyeing your ridge-line because it will be on my route next year.

    1. yes, if you are looking at the lake photo, it is from the south end of Flathead Lake looking north and a bit east.
It is part of the hot springs walk?

the mountain peak is the mission mountains above St. Ignatius.

  24. Dear Tammie - It must be the time when you can’t hold back the excitement for the full arrival of spring... with both newly emerged flowers and snowcapped mountains. Your photos made me feel warm sunshine in the cold air.

    1. hello Yoko,
It is rather happy making as spring comes on. I included dandelion greens and chives from the land in our dinner last night. Such a treat! More evidence of spring daily.

  25. These tiny flowers show how important it is to shine even when alone and unseen.
    Your landscapes are stunning.
Thanks for showing your Montana - I only ever saw it in films as wide and endless grassland.

    Happy weekend Tammie!

    1. Hi Ruby,
West of the Rocky mountains it is lush, hills and mountains, east of the Rockies it is plains, hills and open landscapes. Colorado is the same. Thank you for enjoying.
