New Steps

My friend Mister T recently acquired a saw mill and my cabin steps needed replacing. This winter a tree in the woods uprooted, I visited it to see if it was the right size for the steps. It was! Also there were bits of silky soft white fur, I believe rabbit, around the roots, as well as large bear tracks. I doubt the bear ate it, the tracks walked right by with surely a sniff here and there. Seems that right now the woods are full of hungry critters and many of them are eating one another. No fooling when I say that nature is a place to respect and be alert.

Mister T came over with his chain saw.
Cut a length for the steps.
We took it back to the saw and sliced it in half and now I have wonderful new steps:

The thing I love most about this tale is that a tree fell over and we turned it into something that was needed. Such a good feeling around this!
Plus it is fun to make things with friends ~

  1. How down to earth to use a fallen tree for your stairs. Perfect! Yes, be careful about hungry critters as you'd make a tasty meal. :)

  2. Boy, those are beautiful steps you guys made. When trees fall around our cabin they are good mostly for firewood as there is a lot of rot inside.

  6. Very awesome that you are helping mother nature reuse and recycle! I love your cabin, it looks so homey. Those stairs for some reason remind me of the ones on the spaceship on "Flight of The Navigator" (old disney movie). They seem to float there...love them!

  7. Like new steps into your beautiful home, you can now easily step into your self with the help of Nature and the lessons she offers us.

A tree falls, and something within us has dissolved, and we can see more clearly now through the forest of our mind.

The energy of the tree has been digested so one can stand up a little higher to understand and feel more connected, sensing that there is a story unfolding and a grand mystery that is being solved.

  21. Oh, they look so beautiful! They really do match your cabin so well. I really do love that you got to use a tree that fell close to your house, and you and a friend made these lovely steps together. Even though the tree did not have the strength to stand any longer, those steps will be a strong pathway for years!

And look, you have grass showing! :)

  24. Hi there in beautiful Montana.

Thanks for your lovely comments on my blog.
I'm still feeling my way around this medium so your encouragement was doubly welcome.

Where you live looks a bit like how I imagine heaven!!
Bear tracks in the snow would really make my trips into the outdoors a whole lot more exciting but we don't have bears any more in Scotland. A skeleton of one was found recently in a newly opened section of cave but it had been dead for a few thousand years!
    Take care and enjoy life.

    Best Wishes

  29. Its helpful when spirits guide you to recognize exactly what you need. This shifts your focus from extraneous things you may think you want. Unseen worlds are full of friendly beings reaching out to assist you in meaningfl ways. The physical steps are a great idea but there is more going on than is registered by the untrained eye.
