Little Bird Movies

 

Hello, 

I hope you enjoy my bird friends as much as I do. 

The top wee movie is in real time. 

You can see how swiftly they move. It is a fun little film due to having 22 birds coming and going.

Three types of chickadees and red breasted nuthatches.

 

 The wee movie above is in slow motion.

I love seeing the second bird, the female red breasted nuthatch, when something gets her attention behind her and turns swiftly. Things like that are hard to see in real time.

Spring Flowers, Montana Style

along the lake shore

flowers!

(we are still under a foot or two of snow, 

so nothing is blooming yet)

under a layer of ice 

reflections of shadow and light

of snowflake like flowers

I was, still am thrilled by this sweet beauty

something I had never seen before

at home, while going through photos

I zoomed in to find small ice flowers on and in the 
surface layer of ice

they were too small or invisible for my eyes 

to see in person

these ice flowers are how the shadows came to be ...

maybe they are formed much like a snowflake?

have you ever seen this before?

seems like the art of fairy folk, to me.

American Mink

a mink visit

new sounds in the ponds

the muskrats were running and leaping off the island

onto the water

like a belly flop splash

also

a quiet slinky mink

swimming as well!

I have only seen a mink 3 times now

they are nocturnal

but there it was, hunting in the day

the pipe (in the video) 

is how the water flows from one pond to the next

it is also how the muskrats and mink travel from one pond to the next

I hope you enjoyed the little video

it was joy inspiring to be so close

as long as I stood still the mink seemed to think me a tree

a few days later

at a friends home

we saw a mink fishing in the lake

two minks in one week!
