Thirst to Belong

born of a spirit
that is vast and eternal
risen from land
soil of earth
mingling with heavens
through the air that we breath
we already belong

  1. The color of that glacial lake is so beautiful...it reminds me of Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park in Canada. This is a very beautiful scene and photo.

  2. I know how it feels to "thirst to belong", because I have been put in this potion since birth. Would that my brown skin was as loved as the brown earth --- yes, this brought tears to my eyes, but the beauty of the photo cleared them away.

  3. The image you created with your words surpasses the beautiful photo. Nice job!

  6. Hi Carolyn,
I have been to Emerald lake also. The walk around the lake is wonderful and the color, wow!

    Amias,
Sad that this feeling for thirst to belong has been so surface for you since birth. This aspect of humanity saddens me greatly.
Perhaps this aspect of humanity, that does not see the human heart in each and every human is what has inspired me to delve so deeply into the constant spirit I find in nature.

I sense that almost everyone has a deep thirst to feel connected with life.

    bethany,
    thank you...

    murat 11,
always fun to see what line catches you.

    enchantedartist,

  13. Beautiful! Although the place has been there for thousands of years - it looks really fresh, as though no one's ever been there before.

  14. The mingling of heaven and earth is spirit, is earth, is us. How much less thirst would we be if we knew this?

    Beautiful poem.

  29. I do believe we are all born of a spirit mush higher than we will ever be and that we were formed by using the soil of the earth as a vessal to carry our spirit so we are visible to each other using mankind eyes.

This was not a long piece but it said so much and while nature has it`s own beauty...it can not compare with the beauty of a person`s spirit.

  30. So many lovely comments, thank you. Yes everyone, do visit this and other lovely places. They are a gift!

    Jo, The lake was/is luminous!

    Kitty,
You are so right, the place is really fresh. I think this is because winter comes every year. The snow washes evidence away from human tracking. It even washes the roads away. One year with out huge amounts of road work and no one would ever drive into these lands again.

    Sandy,
    I so agree with you!

    Linda,
Thank you, your comment makes me feel that I have succeeded in what I meant to offer.

    Turquoise D,
Mystic lakes in Tibet... oh someday I would like to visit them.

    Petit,
yes these places are a meditation stance.

    Ciel,
Nice that you give yourself time in these places.

    Prospero,
    I so agree.

    Elise,
Thank you for your visit. Lovely to meet you. I hope you visit again.

    Maggie,
Your thoughts are lovely and thought provoking.. I like how you word: we were formed by using the soil of the earth as a vessal to carry our spirit so we are visible to each other using mankind eyes. Beautifully said.
What I love about the spirit of nature is that it is constant. It does not have the egoic and emotional fluctuations that we people have. For me there is a tangible essence, vibration in nature that when I open and relax into it, I am brought into a mix of peace, vitality and stability.

    warmth,
    Tammie

  33. hi Ces,
The lake in this photo is most likely a 4 hour or more drive and then a few hours of hiking to get to it. There is much beauty around me and plenty of driving and hiking to get to it.

    Sharodindu,
    Lovely to have you visit.

  34. Tammie, that would be excellent. It's always interesting to listen to the poet herself because I read the poetry differently sometimes, where to pause, it's important.

  47. Nature is wonderful and this photo makes me want to go out backpacking and hike in the nature.

We only have subway in our capital and I don not go there so often because it takes me more then 10 hours by car.

They have a Emerald lake, in New Zealand and i have been to that.

  68. We, all entities, certainly come together to create a symphony of beauty and art. Together we sculpt the earth and polish and shine the objects of our attention.

  69. There is something about natures scenery that nurtures the soul. When we take the time to absorb it, we are reminded of our oneness with everything.
