Winters dream becomes Spring
warmer days arrive
Spring, an avatar
calls my name
in the song of birds
on the current of a warm breeze
as the muskrat swims
across the pond, freshly risen from its den
an avatar of new life
calls my spirit to rise from hibernation
weans me away from winter
stretch and yawn
a languid stroll
earth soft under my feet
breathe
awaken
let my spirit enliven
your spirit
with light and shadows
warmth and color
slowly we will prepare
the feast of summer
warmer days arrive
Spring, an avatar
calls my name
in the song of birds
on the current of a warm breeze
as the muskrat swims
across the pond, freshly risen from its den
an avatar of new life
calls my spirit to rise from hibernation
weans me away from winter
stretch and yawn
a languid stroll
earth soft under my feet
breathe
awaken
let my spirit enliven
your spirit
with light and shadows
warmth and color
slowly we will prepare
the feast of summer

Oh this is wonderful! Spring is a wonderful avatar...and it feels good to wake up from the winters nap.
Another amazing scenes and words.
Happy spring and Easter.
The ripples of the water is beautiful and stirring = just like spring. So uplifting!
Love the stone and snow shot, it has to be said that the Muskrat is great too.
are you really living in such an amazing enviroment...with beavers(or what is a muskrat?)around?? Ilike the Photo with the snow smelting around the stones...remember this feeling...spring is in the air!
That muskrat looks like a giant rat. Yuk! I don't like rats. In fact my phobia started when I was a young kid, and itt flood every year. The rats and mice would be sitting in rows in my mum's veg garden. I linked the plague with rats. 40 years on, I still am scared of them
The nature awakens and the light returns. Wonderful picture! I wish you Happy Easter!

Heartwarming words, and I love the pics.
We too have the animals awakening. And the snow has made way for blossoms! Happy melt to you!!
How wonderful once again see the animals and flowers Tammie.
Spring as avatar..all nature is spirit, we are spirit. I love the give and take you capture here in a beautiful image.
And I love the furry dude just doing his thing. These guys swim with such clear purpose and so neatly. They are harmony itself.
Wonderful captures.
I LOVE the stones in the snow! They speak so eloquently of spring.
Spring does prod us to get moving, doesn't it? Sometimes I'm more amenable to that prod, and sometimes I feel like resisting it. Glad you were moving around that day you found the muskrat, though -- great catch! Likewise the warming rocks with the receding snow. Wonderful pictures!
~such movement and stirring happening for you...may the warmth come and shed his light upon you...prepare a feast of summer...sound so inviting! may i come too...l♥vely moments as always you have captured...much l♥ve and light and brightest blessings~
Ah ~ lovely, spring! How we welcome her "light and shadows, warmth and color!"
Can feel the heat eminating from the rocks! Both are beautiful photos and your words so timely.
Blessings and smiles
Tammie, this certainly puts me in the mood for spring weather!
Beautiful, Tammie - the stone in the foreground looks as if it is smiling! xoxo
Thank you for sharing that gorgeous poem and those wonderful photos. Look at that beautiful little guy in the water...the photos really represent the innocence of nature for me. Theresa
Beautiful. Your words embody the essence of Spring ... your pictures are perfect.
So often I want to trade places with the muskrat. Just for a while. Just to know. Thanks for this.
hmm, yes.. spring can be an avatar for sure! :)
You've done a wonderful job of describing Spring. Your pictures are wonderful, too. I really like the second one.
Lovely words and photos for the new season.

Is that an Otter?

That handsome muskrat - reminds me of growing up in Wisconsin - thank you for the Spring gift of your beautiful poem and images.
I just love the early spring when the rocks warm up and melt patterns in the snow. Well done!

PS...so, you are a "thread spider" too! Send me pix of your handwork. I'd love to see those.
Building a life, time and again. What a role model. Thank you for sharing such beautiful photography.
And also for the last pieces of snow...years since last I saw some on my own...sigh...a bit (maybe much) homesick, wishing you a wonderful Tuesday.
Love the idea of spring as the avatar for winter. This is really well written. It flows so nicely. Photo is awesome!
As always, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. Your words are thoughtful and photography superb. Thanks!
Exquisite images and poetry. The ice crystals in the previous post are amazing too.
A great time of year, isn't it? The snow melts day by day and replenishes the creeks and rivers with glorious water. That little muskrat appears to be so busy...beautiful.
Adorable muskrat, can they be adorable? lol I love the snow on the rocks too. :)
Very beautiful in every way!
Happy Easter!

ROSA

Spring, an avatar of new hope and sensitivity. Great image. Also I like the rocks heating up first melting the snow around them.
The muskrat is an amazing animal. It lives comfortably on the edges of two worlds - water and land - finding sustenance and shelter in each, as situations require. It would be a wonderful totem, with strong medicine.
Tammie Lee I for one have become a fan of your poetry...so profound are your words..you are one with your subject..that is for sure!
Happy Easter to you dear lady!
Spring, beautiful spring! These are lovely photos of winter's demise.
Tammie,
You are so very talented. It is always a delight to visit your blog

Spring is always a beautiful avatar on earth...:)
It means new hope, new life in God's creations!
Thanks for sharing your wonderful thoughts!
something zenlike with stones on the snow, reminds me a japanese garden
Beautiful, Tammie! I've never seen a muskrat before! I love the personification of spring, using the sounds of nature to call you and awaken you from winter's sleep.
Janice.
Oh yes! Very good! I like that use of avatar as a rebirth from the hibernation of winter. (My avatar is just easing into it.)
Kat
Awww spring <3 When I came home yesterday it was so good to see some of the snow gone :)
These stones... sunbathing! I really like this shot! Very architectural! Color me inspired!
I am sorry I haven't been around for a while. I like these photos very much. It is a wonderful way you show that spring is comming. Thanks for these photos and for your beautiful poem. I scrolled down to see what I have missed so far and I was delighted with your photos. I am sorry that I don't have much time to comment each post; at any rate, your photos speak more than my words can.
What breathtaking photographs!
Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The textures are amazing( and oh how I want that beaver for a neighbor ;o)
smiling in awe, Nancy

Roll on the warmer weather, colour and the feast of summer!
Thank you for your lovely warm wishes and comment about Zigsa cat. I think he would enjoy chasing Mr Rat!;D
We did train Ziggy at a very young age, to wear a harness and lead. He is a very layed back cat. >^.^<

Exquisite photography!
"slowly we will prepare the feast of summer" I love it Tammie! what a great shot of the swimming muskrat! glad to see what happens in the springtime in Montana.
Oh wow, these two photos are quite similar, aren't they? The -- what IS that? -- critter parting the waters, and the stones parting the snow. Gorgeous!
Dear Ms. Bella,
Tis a muskrat, a critter that lives in water and travels on land. My neighbor that I enjoy watching, very much.
Well, I am late in responding this week due to a motorcycle trip! I like your photo very much. Spring is, indeed, a time of renewal. As in the avatar, a chance for renewal and rebirth, as in the seasons. Well written.
Look @ the fun that guy is having in the water! I adore the rocks in the snow photo!
wow these images are beautiful.
And your poems make me sigh every single time.
So true, so deep, so profound.
Love you for sending this into my space Tammie.
Hugs Dagmar
I love that muskrat!
Such gentle awakening in your images and words.
How did you ever get the sweet muskrat’s consent? They have always seemed so reluctant and shy.
I love your spring
like your winter
time for winter
to be replaced
Avatar of the season
..
THAT is beautiful- imae and verse- so gentle and flowing just like your little muskrat!!! Happy Spring!
Hi Missy T - such beautiful pictures. I feel like I just took a vacation in a nature wonderland. I love the mixture of literal and abstract shots. I could spend all day drawing from your inspiration. Love your eye. Love you too! xoxxoxo D
