Evidence of Spring

Throughout the day, my inner voice whispered.... take a walk, look for morels. They were beckoning.

I wandered the places where in past years I found one here, one there..... nope. Then a wee village of morels appeared before me. Imagine my delight. Just enough to add a kiss to dinner.

Did I hear them calling, absolutely. Did I also know that the earth has finally warmed to a temperature that they like to fruit and that spring is their season, yes to this also.

Does this all feel like magic, indeed it is. The magic of listening with heart and spirit, no different than listening to a friend tell their tale.

Instincts and intuition enrich life in an intimate way.

Listen to and honor your inner whispers.

Spring flowers are bringing heartfelt joy,

the lovely pasque:

Sweet yellow bells:

Always an awe filled delight to see the Great gray owl:

We love our trilliums, I love how there is a light area where the stem of the flower rises from the leaves, it catches my eye:

Spring is more obvious daily

inspiring hope, delight and awe.

I hope this finds you enjoying the details of new life as I am.

Lovely spring to you!

Spring's Snow Stars

it was a snow star morning

as though fairies sprinkled them here and there

scattering magic throughout the land

tiny snowflakes.... on spring's land

an ephemeral delight

graced with frosty edges

Lovely Spring to You

Evidence of Spring

on the first day of spring
I donned snowshoes and went looking for signs of new life

it was a warm day at 57F
snow melts daily and the music of the creek grows louder each day with the thaw

buds of cottonwoods, birch and aspen swell noticeably each day

the furry aspen (male) buds are just beginning to push their way through winters protective shielding

spring begins slowly in NW Montana, no green, no flowers... still it is happening and is a bit thrilling

it was a joy to see this lovely and healthy orange lichen colony

this cute little pine sisken appears to be posing......

 Each season is a treasure.

Lovely spring or perhaps autumn to you!

More from the Tiny World

standing above
it nearly looks like a cream colored rock with dark specks

kneeling to look closely
macro lens helps
an intricate world of detail

I wonder if this is what is meant (in the title of the book) Mycelium Running
it appears to be going from the stick to the leaf
(thank goodness for the decomposers of our world)

don't you want to touch it ;-)
soft little moss sculpture
like something from manicured garden

a magical threshold
to a underworld home

snow is melting
meadows that will later be grasslands
are now shallow lakes

I saw my first butterfly
of the year

it really is heartwarming to note the small details
of a new season

indeed, nature is a spirit helper

lovely days and nights to you

Thaw and Freeze

another trip to the park,
Glacier National Park

winter ice is starting to melt
offering views of the rocks below

(above photo)
water so clear.....
presenting all the beautiful colors

each visit
each hour
offers unique sights

treasures
that change with the wind and sun

thaw and freeze of winter snow and ice is
an early Spring theme

offering amazement to those that wander
and
gander at the details

Meadow Life

a neighbor called
said: come on down
I have a grizzly and her cubs in the meadow

we sat in chairs from a great distance
and watched

then they stepped into the forest
~
we also saw a robin pulling a huge worm from the earth

It is so beautiful these days

winter seems far behind us

Whispers of Spring

we were lucky to have a few blue sky days
starry nights
which means cold enough for ice crystals
to appear

winter blues and whites
in sunlight
enchanting

it has been warm this week
in the 40'sF

snow is melting
sometimes it rains, instead of snows

yesterday i saw a Steller Jay bathing in the pond
the day before sand fleas - they only appear when it is warm
and
the day before a mosquito

these beautiful crystals
don't whisper of spring

usually February
does not whisper of Spring

but this year
we are finding whispers of spring already

Meeting Places

edges
horizons
shorelines
of life
sometimes it is the places
places between here and there
earth and air
water and earth
tree and land
cloud and sky
you and me
where we meet
a place of spirit and movement
stillness and contrast
color and texture
light and shadow
to be present in these meeting places
is to hold hands with the holy

Spring Flowers

in the wild places of NW Montana

spring is still a mix of dead plant debris from last autumn
and

tiny signs of new growth

wandering along a river path

i found a bit of color

you know it had me on my knees

capturing it's portrait
it's scent like an elixer
had me delighted

~

what flower is this?
it looks very much like a lilac
and yet the petals seemed more fragile thin
i wonder if there is a wild variety?

Blues and Puffy White

it was the sort of day
that made ones heart jump for joy
and bow in honor
of the majesty of our planet

Kissed by a Butterfly

walking in the woods today
caressed by a warm breeze
serenaded by Sandhill cranes
quacking ducks
 and the little birds

a tiny butterfly
landed on my shoulder
then kissed my forehead
a feeling of being blessed permeated my spirit

the mastery of a butterflies kiss
 thaws the remnants of winter
presenting spring
