Snowy Autumn Land

fell asleep to a warm night sky
cloaked in clouds at 28F
woke to four fresh inches of autumn snow
two snow falls to date
how many will it take
before golden grasses lie down
announcing winter is here

in the meantime
grasses appear to be rising through
a sand land along an ocean shore
i can almost smell the salty air
when a breeze of pine
awakens me to our snowy autumn land

they are condensation trails left behind by two aeroplanes.

Have a wonderful day playing in the snow if it is still there.

  15. It can't be snowing yet!!! Winter is definitely here (at least in your territory). We were in the
60's today which is unseasonably warm for the middle of November (I'll take it though)! Lovely "snowy" photos. Have a great weekend. Mickie :)

  46. I looked at the bottom image and the first thing I thought of was how beautiful it was to see a pure landscape -- no power lines or highway running through the background. We don't get that much here. Thank you, for sharing your corner of the world.

  52. The grasses look to be Blue-stem...
Tall- grass Prairie grasses, my favorite grasses. They say, "Home" to me. Yours are gorgeous with their snowy skirts.
I am looking forward to our first snow. My gardens are mulched and the suet cakes are out for the birds. It is the time of year I rest. It is the time of year I join the birds in their migration. I look up and see them flying south, down the flyway.
It is the time of year for Swans.
May the magic of the first snow fill your life with joy.

  53. Hi Tammie, xx
Wow! You have had snow in autumn. That is amazing!
You must see a lot of odd climate changes where you are. The weather is all weird at the moment.
We have birds nesting in the garden and I have a small tree that still has flowers!
Love your photos and words. Wonderful fresh images for autumn.

Stay warm and drink plenty of English tea! ;-)
