Colors of the Season

The earth changes the colors of her garments daily.
The dark greens turning to varied shades of gold that glimmer in the sunlight.
These first two pictures were taken in
Glacier National Park, last week.

An Oak turns red!

I grew up with Oak Trees, they will always mean home to me.
Imagine my delight as a friend pointed out that this tree is an oak!

I don't think I have ever seen an oak turn red either. I think it may be the type of oak. I will have to look into what kind it is! Thank you for your kind words!

  5. Oh my!! That first picture is a jaw-dropper. It is absolutely beautiful - like a picture postcard. It gives such a feeling of tranquility, too. I adore it.

And this brings me to my latest post - check it out as I think it might interest you (!)

  6. Good to visit your gallery again, Ms Tammie. I think I know that beach in Glacier. I have a picture of myself there at about 9:45 at night in June: the light looked just like it does in your picture.

  8. Muratt11,

Dear man, how fun that you have been there. Even have a photo of you on that shoreline. Memories of once upon a time. This time of year the light happens much earlier than 9:45! I slept till 8:30 am this morning because the day becomes light... so much later.

  9. All of these photos are stunning. I love the shoreline dissapearing into the distance in that first photo. All the different colors in that photo create a beautiful palate. Autumn is a wonderfully peaceful yet vastly transitional season.

  10. California Oaks are amazing. There must be 100's of varieties in so many differing habitats.

I want to leech out the tanins and make acorn flour one day.

  11. I made acorn flower when I was in my twenties. It took time to collect (November, shell and leech. It was fun. I made the bread with a lot of the flour and it was a heavy textured loaf! I would use a different recipe this time. Still I have to tell you I was thrilled by the experience. I love finding food in nature!
