Rumi

Out beyond ideas
of wrong-doing and right-doing,
there is a field.

I’ll meet you there.

When the soul lies down
in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.

Ideas, language,
even the phrase "each other"
doesn't make any sense.

Rumi

I love this poem, it touches a truth that lives in my heart. My hope is that it touches you as well.

This poem is this weeks prompt for Inspire Me Thursday

Lovely poem, but the cloud phtograph captured my attention. I miss the wide open skies of the countryside.I know I'm due for a holiday where these skies feature but I'm just too busy indoors, packing. Your post took my mind off things for a while , so thank you.I love wide skies and fluffy clouds.

At the risk of sounding completely goofy (as if *that* ever stops me) ... Rumi rocks!

I am in full agreement over here about Daniel Ladinsky's translations, they are the BEST aren't they. And as for Hafiz, he really is one of my all time favorites! So is Mary Oliver, and I noticed you also list her as one of your most loved poets, and understandably.

What about Rilke? Do you like him?

Hello there my fellow Piscean! Thanks for visiting my blog and for your lovely compliment on my piece. I am diggin' yours, too. That IS the field, that IS the grass. Meet me there!

Friends,
I feel happy to know you have enjoyed the images of our lovely planet. There is something so enticing about a field of grass and when it is graced with flowers and a blue sky, divine!

Anonymous, thanks for mentioning Rilke. I have not read much of his work. Do you have a favorite to suggest? It is time for me to memorize a new poem, maybe one of his.

Sometimes, your photos don't even look real. They look surreal. They look too perfect, too ideal to be real. Amazing.
