What Flower is this?

Towards the end of last July I came upon this little flower as I walked through the woods. It was growing near a creek and was the only one I ever found. I have tried to identify it, with no luck. If my memory has any reality to it, I believe this little flower was about 3/4" across and the plant maybe 8 to 10 inches high. I found it in NW Montana, USA. The first person to tell me what it is (in the comment section) can choose one of my greeting cards from my etsy store: spirithelpers.net as a thank you from me.

  8. I believe it is Water Smartweed (Polygonum Amphibium). You can look up pictures online and compare it to yours. One of the sites I found said that it can grow out in the water, or on shores, and these two versions vary from each other some.

The first person to guess the correct I.D. of this flower is dowhatyoulove! Yea, congratulations and thank you for letting us all know!

  31. Beautiful shot! And it seems from looking at the other comments that you found out what flower it is. If this turns out not to be it, let me know and I can forward the link to my brother who also lives in Montana. He loves wildflowers and might have an idea too.

  33. That pretty slip of purple sent me off into Google-land (where I found nothing at all), and I forgot until now to come back and tell you how refreshing it was to see this bit of color. Glad someone else was more successful in their search!
