Mastery of an Ice Crystal

a place in my heart
waits
for your arrival each winter
when all is right
you manifest
growing under starlight
your faceted form
reflects the beauty of our world
in a heightened way
my heart ignites
with a wild mix
ecstatic life
utter serenity
the mastery of an ice crystal

Summer Storm

she arrived dancing wildly on the roof
torrential cleansing of the nooks and crannies
she even washed away the summer heat
and when she left
the world no longer thirsted for her presence
for now she runs through their veins
and they adorn their bodies
with her gem like beauty

Obvious Mate ~

In the land of seasons
nature becomes an obvious mate
there is no wandering into her wilds
without considering her mood
honoring her stance
appreciating
our union
if only for ones well being

in honoring
behold
endless treasures
in her presence
in her kinship

Water, a treasure

Our days are flavored with rain
light rain
rain as tiny balls of snow
and ice
rain that pours and pounds as sound
upon my metal roof
leaving behind tiny drops
as jewels to dress the new born greens
of spring

After experiencing the fire in Santa Barbara,
the presence of rain
is an obvious gift!

The first person to correctly tell me (I know) in their comment
what flower
the bud in the first and last image
will bloom into
can pick a greeting card from my etsy store, as a gift from me to you.

Along the Shore

A layer of surface ice
turned to broken shards

wind stirs
with every wave
they wash over one another

song a bit like crickets
a bit like glass
fill the day
not a sweet song
yet a perfect one-time symphony:
Improv for Spring

Textures and Life

without one texture
would life be the same

each and every
sound and scent
a part of every flame

we lean near
or shift far

we mix it up
make it our
way

with out
each texture
how would life
sway

Phantoms of the Day

being in the depth of
winter
where the days are
short
and the nights are
long
still I stay up
late
still I stay up
late

when I slide into
bed
in the depth of
night
the phantoms of
day
seem to have their
way

memories of tender
moments
of wild fantastic
scenes
of dreams unmet
and
fears of what the past might
bring

my thoughts whisper to
me
imagined scenarios
set in wakeful
dreams
of things that may never
be
never be

phantoms of the day
seem to have their way
have their way
with me
as I toss and turn
for an hour
before I drift
into a night of
dreamful
sleep

Unending Mystery

Be it a drop of melting snow on a lovely spring flower
or
an ice crystal that grew through the night
when we look at the details of life
the mystery is unending

Many snow critters & many icicles

Recently, at sunset I came upon these snow critters.
I am amazed to see all the wondrous forms that snow can take.

The chant of the wolves rises and falls
as the light of the moon
shines and disappears again
through the night's clouds

have you heard the wolves sing
their song makes me stop everything
to step out into the night

their muzzle must be held to the sky
in order to reverberate
as it does through the forest

always I wonder what are they doing
what inspires that enchanting call
for it takes spectacular events to make me
howl

like when large slabs of ice
and snow
slide off a roof
crashing into the snow below

crashing to the porch:
