spirit like a lighthouse
illumines where truth is breached
light turning and returning
shinning on our dismay
light turning and returning
edging us along our way
light turning then returning
encouraging us to sway
light turning then returning
till we live a vital way
spirit like a lighthouse
never completely goes away
~
I am told this is Spirit Lake
that it always looks like this
so ~ it is not ice
perhaps minerals?
Photo taken at sunset, shooting into the sun (oh dear)

It looks like ice. I want to believe it is ice.
ReplyDeleteWow Tammie..that is stunning and yor words are lovely. Is it frozen?? Very cool!! Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteSo VERY lovely. Your spirit poem moves me today--especially after the traumatic events of this weekend...Ah, how wonderful it is to know there is something GREATER.
ReplyDeleteYour photograph is extraordinary and it fills my eyes.
How strange, like a lake of souls.
ReplyDeleteExcellent words, and the pictures are intriguing.
ReplyDeleteThe exotic mystery of this picture prompts its own kind of spiritual awakening: fascinating, the way light turns (and returns) on this subject...
ReplyDeleteWow, what a beautiful lake, so pretty. Great shot too, the light on it looks great!
ReplyDeleteYour first picture reminds me f the moon and your words would fit that well. I like the idea of a spirit lake. They say water conducts so much. Minerals sounds about right, the 2nd picture could have been Parys Mountain x
ReplyDeleteThat lake is gorgeous...it's so hard to fathom that it's not ice on the surface! Your poem was lovely. I liked the repeated lines...they were very comforting!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful beautiful photos and poetry!
ReplyDeleteThe lake is amazing, magical!
ReplyDeleteyour poem was amazing <3 made me feel less lonely actually ;-)
Tammie: That is absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteTammie, I looked and looked at that photo, trying to decide what it was before I went on to read your poem and then your second photo (ahhh-haaa!). I like to think there is a beacon within us that will always be our guide - never leaving us completely.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting lake! It's mesmerizing. And your poetry is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh tammie, these are just intensely beautiful.
ReplyDeletePure magic in words and place. Your photos are very compelling and your words draw me into the beauty and mystery within them.
ReplyDeleteSuch beauty in words and images. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteGoodness! It does indeed seem like a lake of Souls. It's given me goosebumps! Wow!
ReplyDelete"Light turning and returning" .... beautiful poem. The steady repeating Light, a constant beacon guiding us through a chaotic world. I love you Spirit Lake photo's. Fitting with the poem, turning and returning, life eternal....just like the mystical rounds on spirit lake. Blessings. Love and Light, Nina P
ReplyDeleteThat spirit seems like a guiding light. Nice flow to your poem.
ReplyDeletevery inspirational, i like the repetitive mantra of the poem...
ReplyDeleteTammie, it's hard to believe that this was taken on our planet earth. I say this, in part, because it reminds me of the memory tapestry in Tarkovsky's Solaris.
ReplyDelete'light turning and returning'
ReplyDeletelike a heart beat, ever steady
i wonder what energy would break ice into a span of circles - what a fantastic find
That's an interesting lake. Fascinating. Love the shots.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the poem. It is a beautiful meditation.
Tammie,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.... and I believe shooting into the sun on this capture helped enhance the effect of this shot.
Smiles Barbara

ReplyDeleteWow - so special. Now I'm going to have to Google Spirit Lake. While the artist is more than satisfied, the scientist in me must know why.

It is beautiful and very unusual. The surface looks like frozen geyers. I can believe that spirits live there.

Wow that's just beautiful. I took a few shots of my local partially frozen pond which appeared to have circle of water.. holes - but it looked nothing like this. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love the comparison- beautifully written and gorgeous pic!!!
ReplyDeleteEvery time you come up with different images that make me happy
ReplyDeleteHow utterly beautiful. I want to believe it's the spirit of lighthouse, yet, it look like some form of those beautiful, graceful, and deadly Jelly Fish. Either way, it's a very spiritual scene.
ReplyDeleteI would love to order some large prints of these Tammie, is it possible?
As always, stunning photos Tammie!:)
ReplyDeleteThis lake is so magical with the circle formations. What a wonderful name 'Spirit Lake'. The poem compliments your pictures really well...

ReplyDeleteAnother stunning poem to go with the eye transfixed. Hello to you again in the Other World.
ReplyDeleteThis is just fabulous. I have never seen anything like that. Miracle...
ReplyDeleteTammie, I am liking the play on the word, returning. I would not have it turned, then returned but you did it good.
ReplyDelete..
Wonderful poetry and the Spirit Lake certainly a mystery!
