Roses and Strawberries

wandering through the woods
a grouse lures me away
from its precious eggs which lay
upon the forest floor

wild roses bloom
sat to admire delicate fragrant petals
which I had to eat
tasting the sweetness
ethereal pleasure

when one eats from the wild
one becomes part of the wild

scent of rain
arrives on a warm summer breeze
wandering home as the storm flies in
hoping for another rose to see
so I can take it home with me

The strawberries are ripe here now, too. I have had killdeer lead me away from the babies out in the field, and just the other day, a turkey mom did it.

I just love the soft green this time of the year, don't you?

  16. What I wouldn't give to have a wild rose potpourri (not that I would pluck them but I'd wait until they fell), to taste that little red gem and... that grouse. Ooops, sorry! Beautiful photos all of them. Have a wonderful weekend Tammie.

  20. Wayne and I finally found a frame for the photo that you sent us. We've decided that we want a picture of every season in the same frame. Your photos really are spirit helpers. We are going to put them in his office to help the patients reconnect with nature. That disconnect, is psychologically devastating. My words, not his. But, I believe it to be true with my whole heart.

  21. Hi Tammie,

This is an enchanting forest, with beauty around every corner. Wild roses and strawberries, sounds perfect to me. I will be living near a forest soon but I don't think it is as magical as your place.
Mind you... A crop circle has recently appeared near by!:)

    Have a lovely weekend.

  26. Tammie sweet, my mind is playing as I see these images... They create such an enchanting world of fantasia in my head, with nymphs and elves that tend to nature, and plenty of animals prancing about in joy! Of course, you beautiful words made it easier to imagine that too. (hugs to you)

  31. Bet mother grouse likes those strawberries, too. Nice line, "when one eats from the wild
one becomes part of the wild" -- I'll use that as a table toast for our elk steaks tonight.
