  2. Winter is absolutely glorious where you live! I'm even wondering how you get out to do your basic shopping! Sweet little bird shot! I wonder how they can find any food with so much snow? Our snow has mostly melted, but yesterday we got snow flurries with huge, wet flakes! I wanted to go out and play, but when I quickly got dressed the snow had turned to rain!

    1. Yes, we have a deep winter here. This year I have thought of it as sincere. I will not go anywhere in this storm. In fact they closed the schools which is rare. Montana for the most part is awesome about dealing with snow. But this is a lot in a short period of time.

When snow turns to rain.... it did that last night and then the world froze. 6" of new snow over night.

  6. I can imagine how quiet it is there.
    Soooo much snow.
Lots of shoveling, but so beautiful.
    Stay warm.

    1. Yes, so quiet, unless one is walking in the snow, that is usually not quiet ;-)
      I love the quiet!
I enjoy the shoveling. As long as one feels well it is a nice healthy thing to do.

  7. Remind me not to complain if we get an inch or two or three of snow! But I have to say, it is gloriously beautiful!

  8. Wow. The west is getting nailed with so much snow this year.

  9. 20 more inches??I will not complain about the 2-4 inches due here tomorrow. The snow is so pretty on the trees, though. Is your roof okay? We have black capped chickadees here, too.

    1. Hello Sandy,
Over night I got 6" and it is still coming down. One more day of this storm. I started shoveling my paths, will finish after coffee. It is rather nice out. Getting hard to find a place to move the snow.

I love our little winter birds, the ones that stay with us. We also have Chestnut backed and mountain chickadees.

      I agree, so pretty!

I hope my roof is ok! I think this is the most snow it has held since i have been here. It will warm up Thurs. for a ten days, that will be the first time this winter.... (super cold winter) and the snow will slide off then.

  10. That is a lot of snow!

If you've got something like an extended rake, you might want to get some of that off the roof.

  11. so wonderful, although i guess i can only say that as someone who doesn't live with such snow.

  12. I have been watching the news about your area. What an incredible amount of snow! I hope you are able to stay safe and warm. We have missed the heavy snowfall but it has gotten very warm and the existing snow is more like cold soup.

  13. Wow, that is beautiful, but I understand it can make life difficult. We haven't had more than a dusting of snow here in Scotland this year. I am quite thankful as my son has just passed his driving test and he drives to work early each morning before the gritting trucks have been out!

  14. Hello Tammie,
How sweet of you to visit my blog while I was away... in Paris!
Such a different planet from my wild countryside in the south of France! LOL!
But strangely as I write, it is snowing!
Lovely photos of the landscape and I believe you easily when you say it is difficult to get around with snow up to your knees!
Keep well and enjoy the rest of the week :)

  16. Wow - that is a lot of snow. Creating some beautiful scenes with the white stuff. We've just had a lot of frost here in the UK. Love all the scenes you've so beautifully captured.

  17. You life in such a beautiful winter wonderland! I enjoy seeing the snow as we get very little here in Arkansas!

  18. These are great. I especially love the little chickadee.

  19. SO PRETTY! Absolutely gorgeous. I can't even imagine what it's like to see that much snow in person.

And where I live it's currently 86 degrees. (With a heat index that's even higher). I'm still waiting for winter.

  20. How so beautiful! I feel the silence snow created and feel as if having wandered into Narnia. Your house stands enchantingly. The little bird is cute and I think of animals I’ve seen in your blog including deer. The weather in my part of the world is so fickle and abnormal; warm winter and intense frigid cold have alternated. Now is the bottom of the cold. Take care and stay warm, Tammie.

  21. Fabulous Tammie, I just wish you could blow some of that my way, I'm in love with your snowy world all blanketed in deep snow, such peace and white quiet beauty!

  22. Tammie....Your 'little bird' is very similar to our Marsh and Willow Tit, I wondered if you knew it's name.

The snow is beautiful, but can be a problem at the same time.

    Kind Regards from Lancaster, England.

    1. Hi Pete,

Thank you for stopping by and leaving a kind message.

The little bird is a black-capped chickadee. We have 4 types, 3 of which are common: mountain chickadee, black-capped chickadee, Chestnut-backed chickadee and the more rare Boreal Chickadee.

They are sweet little birds and it is so nice to have them year round, as many birds leave here in winter.

It has been a sincere winter here, deeply cold and lots of snow. I think it has been 20 years since this area, NW Montana has gotten this much snow. Yes, it can inspire concern and problems, but most people know how to deal with it.
