here in the NW corner of Montana
flowers are not blooming
but some lichen are looking magical!
these sticks are about 1/4 inch think
my eyes can not see these amazing details
they look more like yellow and green fuzz to me
the earthy sage greens
and
golds are thrilling
cup like saucers intriguing
wood with algae, lichen and perhaps the large leaves are liverworts?
two hours south of here
I did see my first wildflowers of the year!
jagged chickweed
all
our meadows
are lakes at the moment
abundant with water birds
Spring
is a magical time in the little details
~
if you know what any of the lichen or liverwort are
I would love for you to tell me.
So much to learn!

That amount of details that you put ... build to improve your shots, if it is possible, because they are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHave a good one, Tammie.
Tomás.
Thank you Tomás. It did take time for sure. Hand held camera for macros takes a steady hand.
DeleteGorgeous captures.
ReplyDeleteI love lichen.
Me too Rick.
DeleteI am just attempting to learn a tiny bit about them.
Outstanding macros and beautiful colours! We don't have anything like those yellow ones. But they're all impossible to name!
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you sir. It did take a few times of photographing them before I was satisfied.
DeleteThat gold one is very different, and pretty.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you enjoyed it Mary.
DeleteThanks for showing us the magical world of lichen, Tammie. We can’t see such details without a macro lens or a magnifying glass. I also like the last photo of the overflowed meadow with reflections. The thawing time seems to be fantastic both in micro and macro world.
ReplyDeleteYoko
Thank you for enjoying the magical world of lichen Yoko. I was amazed at what the macro lens revealed!
DeleteI love walking back to the meadow to see what is going on each day.
Yes they are growing in every bit of stick.
ReplyDeleteOh Tammie - excellent lichens - very nice!
ReplyDeleteHappy week
Crissi

ReplyDeleteThe photos are so striking and full of details. I love finding lichens and fungi in the woods around here but rarely ever know what I'm looking at.

ReplyDeleteNice shots of the lichens! I admire them too, but know very little about them.
ReplyDeleteLooks like there is a lot of snow melt there now!
What exquisite shots of the lichen!
ReplyDeleteLichen are so intricate - like tiny worlds apart from their surroundings. Thank you for these macro shots showing their beauty. It just keeps snowing in Breckenridge - it's been a very wet spring! I guess I'll be glad if our forests get enough moisture to ward off fires.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see you visiting blogs, Barb. I hope that you are quite well.
DeleteAmazing lichen, both in colour, pattern and shape! Your lens shows us all their intricate beauty! Sweet little spring flowers further south too!
