that is vast and eternal
risen from land
soil of earth
mingling with heavens

photo: Grinnell Lake in E. Glacier Park
The color of that glacial lake is so beautiful...it reminds me of Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park in Canada. This is a very beautiful scene and photo.
ReplyDeleteI know how it feels to "thirst to belong", because I have been put in this potion since birth. Would that my brown skin was as loved as the brown earth --- yes, this brought tears to my eyes, but the beauty of the photo cleared them away.
ReplyDeleteThe image you created with your words surpasses the beautiful photo. Nice job!
ReplyDeletemingling with heavens...
ReplyDeleteYou certainly do...
Ahhh...breathtaking, as so often your work is.
ReplyDeleteHi Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteI have been to Emerald lake also. The walk around the lake is wonderful and the color, wow!
Amias,
Sad that this feeling for thirst to belong has been so surface for you since birth. This aspect of humanity saddens me greatly.
Perhaps this aspect of humanity, that does not see the human heart in each and every human is what has inspired me to delve so deeply into the constant spirit I find in nature.
I sense that almost everyone has a deep thirst to feel connected with life.
bethany,
thank you...
murat 11,
always fun to see what line catches you.
enchantedartist,
so lovely to have you visit and thank you.

ReplyDeleteA great holistic feel to this one. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteGrinnell Lake looks luminous next to the green trees. Lovely image and words!
ReplyDeleteJo.x
Beautiful scene and verse. Thanks for sharing. I have been to Glacier and loved the park.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Although the place has been there for thousands of years - it looks really fresh, as though no one's ever been there before.
ReplyDeleteThe mingling of heaven and earth is spirit, is earth, is us. How much less thirst would we be if we knew this?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem.
I love your mountain and lake pictures. They make me feel so wistful.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing place! And the poet is really thought-provoking also.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the air connecting us! The picture and the poem, by themsleves, are beautiful, but, when combined like this, they take on a mystic quality!
ReplyDeleteI love your words...and the lake reminds me the mystic lakes in Tibet. Beautiful

Oh so beautiful. I have seen my fair share of beautiful lakes in Québec over the past week and though the landscape is very different, you are reminding me already of what I'm missing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful color of lake and sky ! It's like jewels.
ReplyDeleteI love your last photo of full moon!
There's a special awe reserved for the majesty of mountains.
ReplyDeleteSo... this is SUCH a clever post & you have the most gorgeously brilliant site here. It's all perfect !
ReplyDeleteI had to stop by to leave this comment for you – and to say hello of course ! Thank you for sharing it all and have a great Sunday....
I cannot believe the beauty contained in this photograph...and your words are so beautiful as well.
ReplyDeletevery poetic and the view's amazing...
ReplyDeleteI do believe we are all born of a spirit mush higher than we will ever be and that we were formed by using the soil of the earth as a vessal to carry our spirit so we are visible to each other using mankind eyes.
ReplyDeleteThis was not a long piece but it said so much and while nature has it`s own beauty...it can not compare with the beauty of a person`s spirit.
So many lovely comments, thank you. Yes everyone, do visit this and other lovely places. They are a gift!
ReplyDeleteJo, The lake was/is luminous!
Kitty,
You are so right, the place is really fresh. I think this is because winter comes every year. The snow washes evidence away from human tracking. It even washes the roads away. One year with out huge amounts of road work and no one would ever drive into these lands again.
Sandy,
I so agree with you!
Linda,
Thank you, your comment makes me feel that I have succeeded in what I meant to offer.
Turquoise D,
Mystic lakes in Tibet... oh someday I would like to visit them.
Petit,
yes these places are a meditation stance.
Ciel,
Nice that you give yourself time in these places.
Prospero,
I so agree.
Elise,
Thank you for your visit. Lovely to meet you. I hope you visit again.
Maggie,
Your thoughts are lovely and thought provoking.. I like how you word: we were formed by using the soil of the earth as a vessal to carry our spirit so we are visible to each other using mankind eyes. Beautifully said.
What I love about the spirit of nature is that it is constant. It does not have the egoic and emotional fluctuations that we people have. For me there is a tangible essence, vibration in nature that when I open and relax into it, I am brought into a mix of peace, vitality and stability.
warmth,
Tammie
Tammie, do you live near these beautiful places that you photograph? No wonder you are inspired. My God! Montana really has big skies!
ReplyDeleteHi! visiting your blog after a long time. Sorry for that..actually was little busy in job hunting and relocating.
ReplyDeleteyour blog has that same refreshing feeling...:)
ur posts are soothing as always.
thanks :)
hi Ces,
ReplyDeleteThe lake in this photo is most likely a 4 hour or more drive and then a few hours of hiking to get to it. There is much beauty around me and plenty of driving and hiking to get to it.
Sharodindu,
Lovely to have you visit.
Tammie, that would be excellent. It's always interesting to listen to the poet herself because I read the poetry differently sometimes, where to pause, it's important.
ReplyDeleteyah! recently joined a company here...
ReplyDeleteTammie that is really beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove Renee xoxo
If only we knew that at birth instead of spending a life time searching for where we belong. Stunning photo and heartfelt words.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and smiles Tammie.
It´s so beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteWhenever I need space and light, I can always visit you. :)
ReplyDeleteWe certainly do already belong... lovely.
ReplyDeleteI thought this might be of Glacier, not by the lake, but by the mountains. That is such a marvelous place! Beautiful picture!
ReplyDeleteThe blue of that water is just so inviting!

ReplyDeleteTammie, you make a good argument for us to fit physically into our world really good no matter how we are accepted by its other inhabitants.
ReplyDeleteI like it! I also like your pretty picture, it has been quite a few years since I was there.
..
....I don't think I would ever be able to go inside if I lived near all this incredible beauty. The skies are massive...the mountains massive...the expanse massive...it all lends to total freedom. Beautiful poem to match...
ReplyDeleteNature is wonderful and this photo makes me want to go out backpacking and hike in the nature.
ReplyDeleteWe only have subway in our capital and I don not go there so often because it takes me more then 10 hours by car.
They have a Emerald lake, in New Zealand and i have been to that.

ReplyDeletePS. I have just answered some comments on my blog Tammie and realised I had not answered your very kind comments which means my reply to you is out of sequence, I'm so sorry, I try so hard to reply in sequence and do hope you will forgive me :)
We, all entities, certainly come together to create a symphony of beauty and art. Together we sculpt the earth and polish and shine the objects of our attention.
ReplyDeleteThere is something about natures scenery that nurtures the soul. When we take the time to absorb it, we are reminded of our oneness with everything.
ReplyDeleteincredible view tammie!
