fell asleep to a warm night sky
cloaked in clouds at 28F
woke to four fresh inches of autumn snow
two snow falls to date
how many will it take
before golden grasses lie down
announcing winter is here
in the meantime
grasses appear to be rising through
a sand land along an ocean shore
i can almost smell the salty air
when a breeze of pine
awakens me to our snowy autumn land

Tammie,
ReplyDeletethey are condensation trails left behind by two aeroplanes.
Have a wonderful day playing in the snow if it is still there.
You wouldn't think that dead weeds poking up through snow would be that interesting, but I have always enjoyed seeing and taking photos of it. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteWell, well...your landscape is looking more like mine! Enjoy the sparkle of your new snow, Tammie. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving. My motto is "eat lots of dessert!"
ReplyDeleteThe snow is getting pretty now! I love these shots!
ReplyDeleteIt can't be snowing yet!!! Winter is definitely here (at least in your territory). We were in the
ReplyDelete60's today which is unseasonably warm for the middle of November (I'll take it though)! Lovely "snowy" photos. Have a great weekend. Mickie :)
When the earth turns golden, a blanket of reflective warmth returns at the end of every cycle whose aroma is of the freshest amour.

ReplyDeleteI love snow - and winter - but I'm glad our October 2 feet has melted as I JUST finished stacking the 4 cords of wood today!! I miss the tall grasses, they got quite squished in the storm. Happy snows to you.

What a magical snowy world! None here yet.
ReplyDeleteYour poetry combined with these photos fills my heart with contentment...
ReplyDeleteI love your words. You are like my Sissy--the combination of prose, narration and photography are totally engaging to both eye and heart.
I looked at the bottom image and the first thing I thought of was how beautiful it was to see a pure landscape -- no power lines or highway running through the background. We don't get that much here. Thank you, for sharing your corner of the world.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeletewe had snow at the Grand Canyon...it was beautiful!!

Hello! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration. I have something for you on my blog :)
ReplyDeleteBrrrr..snow changed your world overnight.
ReplyDeleteI'm not ready..trembling.
WoW! Such stunning pictures! We had snow this time last year but it's been quite mild here (so far!) Good job too, our heating has broken down and I need some warmth! ;o)
ReplyDeleteJess xx
The grasses look to be Blue-stem...
ReplyDeleteTall- grass Prairie grasses, my favorite grasses. They say, "Home" to me. Yours are gorgeous with their snowy skirts.
I am looking forward to our first snow. My gardens are mulched and the suet cakes are out for the birds. It is the time of year I rest. It is the time of year I join the birds in their migration. I look up and see them flying south, down the flyway.
It is the time of year for Swans.
May the magic of the first snow fill your life with joy.
Sherry
Hi Tammie, xx
ReplyDeleteWow! You have had snow in autumn. That is amazing!
You must see a lot of odd climate changes where you are. The weather is all weird at the moment.
We have birds nesting in the garden and I have a small tree that still has flowers!
Love your photos and words. Wonderful fresh images for autumn.
Stay warm and drink plenty of English tea! ;-)
...beautiful, Tammie! I'd love to have a little of that snow. We had a flurry, but that's it so far. As always...your landscapes are gorgeous, and your way with words: "how many will it take before golden grasses lie down announcing winter is here." Perfect!
ReplyDeleteAh! Love these strands of gold against white snow! It has been awhile since my last visit here. As always, a profound meditation rewards me. So glad you share your vision Tammie :)
ReplyDeleteMaravillosa Tammie!!!
ReplyDeleteHi friend..wishing you a magical winter wkd..always beautiful to revisit your space!
