Beckoning: Montana Roads

last week I wandered in and out of the Rocky Mountain Front
up and down it's dirt roads and trails
taking to heart where the vast Montana prairie meets the foothills
of the Rocky Mountains

not much light as I arrived
all the same I called it home and found it entirely inviting

during the night clouds departed
twinkling of stars filled the dark night sky

 sunrise amongst the volcano reef:

where the prairie and mountains mingle:

wandering amongst the canyons:

the Benchmark wildfire's smoke was in the air:

such a wonderful place to wander

  1. It's all so interesting ... the cliffs, the perspective, how the terrain gets rugged. You spend time in beautiful places. WHAT AM I DOING HERE?

Not close, but not far.... the first night out was a 5 hour drive away. I spent five days wandering around there.

  8. I see some fall colors on the grasses already Tammie. You capture the end of one ecosystem and beginning of another beautifully. Five days of camping and wandering sound like bliss to me!

  14. Wonderful scenes! My favourite is the third one because that turn in the road is so inviting and I like the wooden structure on the left that follows the road. What a sky! What lovely shadows and sun on the mountains!

It now looks doubtful that I'll be visiting Canada and the States in 2013, so I'll be relying on you for my fix.

  24. Tammie, There is so much drama in your landscape . . . vastness and . . . well I think I would feel so small and vulnerable but overjoyed with the splendor. You give us intriguing paths to walk or drive into the wild. Thank you! Inspirational. Each is like a breathtaking landscape painting.
