we hiked up up UP
into the mountains
shoulder high
beargrass bloomed
even the old timers are saying they have never seen such a grand show
of
beargrass
at the pass we headed down to a lake
due to being high in the mountains
we found spring flowers in summer!
the earth was
golden in flowers
Glacier lilies
it was a 12 hour adventure
and
12 miles (19km) of hiking
we were whooped
yet the flowers enlivened our spirits

You are the queen of the landscapes of the mountains. There is no other like you.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a compliment, thank you Tomás!
DeleteWonderful, Tammie!
DeleteHi Tammie Lee :) I haven't done a long hike in a while. I remember my 17km hike I did up and down the mountain...took 8 hours. I did it on my own and I couldn't walk for a few days because I was so sore! But the scenery really did make it worthwhile. The photos are lovely!
ReplyDelete17 km is almost as far as we hiked. I was a bit sore the next day too. We hung out at the lake for a couple hours. 3 of the people brought fishing poles and took fish home!
DeleteOooh I'm jealous of the fishing!!! We haven't been fishing nearly enough this season because of the chilly weather and the onslaught of black flies!
Deletebugs are not fun this year, but up at that elevation they were not bad. I fished for the first time that day. I want to do it again. I only had 5 min. of fishing and two fish bit, but did not catch any.
DeleteWe catch and release. I find the most exciting part of fishing is when you get a bite! Yes, agreed, the bugs are horrible this year. Glad you had a great time! :)

DeleteTammi Lee, what a beautiful hike you took. That bear grass is so unusual, and very pretty. I have never seen that. A lovely field of glacier lilies. Flowers are truly the magic in our lives.
ReplyDeleteWishing you happy July days.

I agree, in spring and summer flowers are the magic.
DeleteIn autumn the colorful leaves.
In winter snowflakes and ice crystals.
Magic all the time.
I have a good idea that this will be a hike you never forget. Thanks so much for sharing your experience!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous beargrass, and mountain views!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of hiking, but those are some magnificent scenes! I have thought the the beargrass this year was the best since at least 2002. Wonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteYes, we were all whooped at the end! So glad I did it though. Fun to consider 2002, that is before I came to Montana.

ReplyDeleteSuch amazing photos of the beauty of the mountains. It'a been way to long since this flatlander has been to the mountains.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful mountain images! I have not experienced such beautiful hike. The field with beargass blooming is a magical world. I enjoyed to see all images. Last but not least I like the flower from behind in the fifth photo. How elegant!
ReplyDeleteHave a good day.
Wow, I’d like to be immersed in such wonder of white, gold, or blue wildflower blooms myself. I think I know how you were inspired and encouraged to trek on. Beargrass is new to me. It must have been spectacular to see the mass blooms as far as the eye could reach. Thanks for sharing, Tammie.
ReplyDeleteYoko
You've captured the natural beauty of the grass and flowers beautifully. I'm no longer able to hike but I'm enjoying my walk with you.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flowers. The flowers are putting on a show everywhere we have been this summer. Here in the Teton area, I am seeing flowers I have never seen before.
ReplyDeleteWish I could have hollered "I'm right behind you!" during your hike, and been there for real, bringing up the rear. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for my first image of beargrass. The flowers in the last photo look like Texas blue bonnets. I do miss hiking. Your photos are good medicine.
Es maravilloso!
ReplyDeleteUn beso!
