Deeper into Spring

Thrilled to visit with the lovely Calypso orchids

more commonly called Fairy Slippers

Native stonecrop succulents that slept beneath winter's snow

have sprung to life in perfection

along with joyous moss

tis the season for lovely morels
or should I say yummy morels

make two wishes

one for you

and one for our lovely world

It has been so long... since i posted

in early summer
a lovely lady slipper orchid

a single lemon mandala of lichen on rock

this green orchid was a lovely surprise
found it as i was harvesting wild huckleberries
always fun to meet a new wildlfower

our summer has been cooler than usual
with many rainstorms
dramatic thunder and lightning
inspiring mushrooms to fruit
you know I love that!

a young moose appeared on a trail
so sweet, mamma was near by

I love these little rock dwellers
the spotted saxifrage
found in the mountains

another new flower to me: Capnoides sempervirens
the rock harlequin

waterfalls
summer is also about waterfalls

a glimpse of a Montana summer

I hope you are enjoying summer wherever you are in the world!

Calypso bulbosa

an early arrival

they usually don't bloom for a couple or few more weeks
in my little snow belt area

but there it was

a little Fairyslipper
Calypso Bulbosa
wild orchid
nearly open
bathing in forest light

Calypso bulbosa

it is fairy slipper season

they rise from a tangle on the forest floor

one here, two there
like magic

wild orchids

cloaked in raindrop gems

the lovely
Calypso bulbosa

Fairy Slipper Day ~ Calypso Orchid

be still my heart

how can anyone, like me
have a favorite flower?

flowers are sweet charming beings
each and every one

hiking through the woods today
I found more tiny wild fairy slipper orchids
than i have ever seen in one walk!

they had me on my knees over and over
taking in their beauty
blending with their presence
finding joy in life

In the Afternoon Sun

in the afternoon sun
after a gentle rain
near a bubbling brook
where the deer do reign
breathe air pristine
lifting flowers scents
offering fragrance of
fairyslippers breath
~

~

Fairyslipper
a wild and tiny orchid
lives under the canopy of forest
a rare and delightful beauty
but do not step too close
for though it has a heavenly scent
you may damage its fragile roots
and then it will not grow back next year
