Last weekend I visited a friend in Polebridge. Polebridge is a wee town near the Canadian border and is surrounded by wilderness. For me to get there I have to drive one and a half + hours on dirt roads. I feel as though I have stepped back in time as I enter this town with one store: 'The Mercantile' which is everything, post office, bakery, coffee shop, gift shop, pay phone (no mobile reception) and a place to socialize. Oh and there is a bar for music, drinks and food next door 'The Northern Lights'.
I helped my friend set up his tipi. As we stood back and looked at it, I saw a fantastic dress. Imagination can be like that, much like when folks see things in clouds. This week memories of that dress stayed with me and yesterday I attempted to draw what I saw. I present to you:
Little Miss Tipi

I came to say hi and thanks for visiting and I got lost in you beautiful nature photographs.
ReplyDeleteI TOTALLY see it! WOW, that is such a great tipi, and a great dress inspired by it. Definitely in tune with nature. Nice textures on the dress as well as the landscape.
ReplyDeleteYou have such amazing photos, too. I am completely mesmerized by them. Thanks for your sweet comments!
Oh how fun!!! I love the colours that you used in your drawing too.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't you just love small towns...and their quirkiness?
I am impressed that you set up that tipi...:) your drawing is wonderful! I love it! I also love how the imagination can create such fantastic images for us to play with. Little Miss Tipi is wonderful! :)
ReplyDeleteWhich Canadian province were you in? I assume one of the Prairie provinces?

ReplyDeleteI'd love to see the finished dress... :)
she looks like a fairy princess! so pretty!
ReplyDeleteAh, thank you all for your support and appreciation. Sharing is so much fun!
ReplyDeleteTammie: I love your "wee town" expression. One and a half hours on dirt roads sounds sublime: maybe (maybe) not the drive, but certainly the arrival. I suspect the drive was just fine for your spirits, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tipi! I got to sleep in a tipi a few nights at the place that Bernie and I met. They really do have a spectacular energy to them!
ReplyDeletePolebridge is such a cute little town (if you can call it that). Bernie and I hiked through there on the Pacific Northwest Trail. We stopped in 'The Mercantile', and had a snack before entering the park. It is an interesting area to visit.
And this is your profile artwork! Now I know where it came from.
I really liked Polebridge when Stacey and I walked into it from the West. Its definitely a nice little Oasis or Outpost on the edge of the Wilderness.
ReplyDeleteSo you are wearing your heart (green) and speak (blue) and flow with spirit by surrounding your self with the wisdom (purple) of Nature.
You are a nature spirit. I am sure you can speak with the trees.
I like your drawing of yourself in relationship with everything that you dearly love.

ReplyDeleteTis a wee town!
And yes, the drive is sublime,I go up and over the mountains, along creeks and lakes, fantastic.
Stacey~ The Mercantile is known for it's snacks! Fun that you two are familiar with the area.
Mister Natural~
very fun interpretation. thank you~
I never thought of the drawing as being of myself when I drew her. I have thought about making her into a story book for children. All the stories would be from things I know, so with time she was revealed as a self portrait.
