  4. I love fairy's slippers. And Lady's Slippers, too! We were traveling in Northern California one Spring. Stayed with some folks in the hills. the woods there were filled with lady's slippers. It was such a magical place. And the lady we stayed with? lol Her name was Scarlett.

  5. Tammie, You know I'm jealous! My Fairy Slippers are still fast asleep under drifts of snow. I only hope I get to see a few this season. Last year, a cold snap in late May were their demise - I only found one to admire.

  8. Fairy slippers indeed, they're so dainty and that third capture is so incredibly beautiful in every little detail! I love the pink stamens in Spring Beauty and those shiny sunshine petals of the buttercup.
I can understand why the butterflies would love the Pussy Willows. I feel like a butterfly just looking at them!

Beautiful photos! I have seen very few Calypsos around here this spring and suspect the dry weather has hampered them. The same for Springbeauties although I encountered lots of them today at about 5500 feet next to some remaining snow banks.

  24. Yes,a joy they are!!
Look how shiny the petals of the butter cup are. Maybe from holding butter? The wild orchid here is known as lady's slipper or moccasin flower. So rare and such a treat to find.

Another one I like this time of year are shooting stars, do you have those?

  29. Ah, the delights of spring that so many overlook. I like the old saying ' look after your pennies and the pounds will look after themselves' or cherish the little things for they fit into your heart and are a treasure forever. The big vistas, though lovely, we cannot gather unto us for they are too vast but the little jewels we can always call upon in times of trouble or in long winter nights.

  30. Beautiful Tammie! It always seems such a miracle these and other delicate blooms sleep within the earths crust during the intense cold of winter. The Fairy Slipper is such a marvel and you have captured its magic exquisitely. Joyous indeed! Thank you!

  31. I love your fairy slippers! Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting on mine. It was partly you who inspired me to get a macro lens. I had no idea how much skill goes into using it but I'm slowly learning with the help of a friend.

Your photos of the natural world are spectacular, as always. Isn't it wonderful to see flowers after a long winter?
