I wandered South to visit loved ones
for the holidays
passed through lands
cloaked in frost and blue skies
got as far south as Southern California
where days were as warm
rather hot
as the gold in the setting sun's skies
found a tremendous amount of birds
and asked if they missed Montana
saw succulents bathing in the heat of day
saw trees that i love
that do not live in the northern realm where i live
trees that made me pause to breathe with
look close
what do you see!
a bear had climbed this tree!
(Ashland Oregon)
day after day of driving
(as it was a 24 hour drive each way)
i drove back into winter
to the land that i call home
~
wishing you a wonderful 2014
may the year overflow
with days
and nights
that feel wonderful
to you!
Glad you're back, happy for your trip, in love with your images.
ReplyDeleteoh, that southern sky, and oh those gorgeous succulents ... looks like a wonderful vacation (and perhaps a great temptation to stay in all that color and warmth a little while longer?). Glad to hear, though, that you are safely home.
ReplyDeleteOh, you lucky gal. Seeing succulents and eucalyptus trees and now back to enjoying ice and snow. I've done that drive from CO, too - but now that we're older, we break it into 2 days. Love that sunset photo! Happy 2014, my friend.

I love that you asked the birds if they missed home, I would have done the same. Happy New Year.

You must hang that picture of the succulent on your wall Tammie! That is breathtaking! WOW!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed your trip south! Happy returns home and happy New Year!
So lovely to see you back after your extremely long drive to warmer climates for a while! Those first two icy photos are wonderful and the golden cloud formation in number 4 is glorious!
ReplyDeleteA tiny speck of a boat sails into the setting sun and those birds look pretty happy with their holidays in that tree.
I must remember not to climb a tree if a bear is on my trail!
May your new year be full of wonder!
Wow, wonderful photos as usual. The colours of the succulents are stunning! Happy New Year, Tammie.
ReplyDeleteI love the land you call home Tammie. Being with loved ones in a different climate is lovely but being home where the hills stand firm to greet you every day and the burbling rushing water tells you stories is best of all.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing like being away for a while to appreciate what you have the more.
Wishing you magical encounters with nature as a whole and wildlife in particular though out this Ne Year!
