Little Bird Movies

Hello,

I hope you enjoy my bird friends as much as I do.

The top wee movie is in real time.

You can see how swiftly they move. It is a fun little film due to having 22 birds coming and going.

Three types of chickadees and red breasted nuthatches.

The wee movie above is in slow motion.

I love seeing the second bird, the female red breasted nuthatch, when something gets her attention behind her and turns swiftly. Things like that are hard to see in real time.

And just in case you are loving these, one more little slow motion film of a mountain chickadee:

Lovely day and beyond to you~

  2. I loved seeing your three different videos very much. It must feel amazing when they land on your fingertips before picking up something to eat from the palm of your hand. Slow motion was a good idea to study the bird's movements even better!
How wonderful to have such a connection with your trusting feathered friends!

    1. It is a sweet experience to gain their trust and to watch their antics and pecking order. Watching them hide the seeds under the bark of trees for later.
I am so glad you enjoyed them.

  5. Oh Tammie, this is such a treat! I see my birds at the feeder but have never had one land -- well, to be honest, I've never sat out there long enough with seed in hand, especially in the winter, to make that happen. You are indeed the Bird Whisperer and this is such a special moment. The video is terrific!

    1. It did take me two months to get this many birds to come to me daily.
Last year it happened faster. I remember trying in years past with no luck at all.

  6. Fantastic to see so many different birds feeding from your hand. Here we may occasionally gain the trust of one bird, but never so many. Are they naturally not too scared of humans there, or have you spent a long time building their confidence?

    1. Chickadees, which there are three types in the first movie are known to come to people. Not on their own, but if you work at it, then it may possibly happen.
But they are wild. It is not like I can pet them, it is all about the seeds ;-)
We all need to eat. And it did take two months of dedicated time, stepping outside maybe 30 times a day and offering them seed, till they think of my hand as a bird feeder ;-)

  9. What great little videos of your bird friends!I see they mostly take turns, and if they don't there is a bit of fuss. They have certainly adapted to your quiet presence.

    1. Yes, what you say is true. The nuthatch are at the top of the pecking order and the male gets to take a seed before the female, usually. Once in a while there is a little bird that decides to be an alpha and takes a seed before it's rightful turn. I think it is only the nuthatches that chase others away. Fun to learn about them up close. Fun to have their companionship too.

  13. That is so wonderful that these little birds come right to you and eat from your hand. Loved the slow motion videos. You can see these special birds so much clearly. I moved back to northern California and to the mountains. I am loving it. We had a week of snow, and it was beautiful. I can see why you love living in nature, Tammie Lee.

I hope you have good February days.

  14. Hallo Tammy Lee,

    Groeten,
