Happy Solstice to You

spring has been beautiful
wild orchids sprinkle the woods
but you must look for them
as they are not plentiful or obvious

a visitor, only stayed a couple of minutes
(a black bear)

many days involved visiting flowers
(yep, that is me)

some days are spent chasing Red-napped sapsuckers off of my mountain ash tree, and letting them peck for sap on the alders that grow like weeds

fields of flowers make my heart swell with energy
and
appreciation for life

collecting wild roses and herbs for tea
a spiritual elixer

tiny green being, the size of an ant
metallic and busy is a delight to see

bugs galore
visiting my sketch
while sitting in the grass
~
Spring was lovely!
Now to embrace summer and all the gifts it offers.

Lovely Solstice to you!
Be it Summer or Winter in your part of the world.

Summer Begins

I headed to the mountains for
Summer Solstice

enjoyed
patches of tiny twinflowers

frothed-up plant sap
made by the froghopper bug
quit magical looking up close

the clouds
appeared and disappeared
throughout the day
moody or bright

larkspur often look as though they are dancing
to me

these flowers, dogbane,
seem to be celebrating life

spring did not offer many mushroom sightings
yet
there were a family of these
on an old dead log
love how they came up through bug holes

heading home....

one poppy bud this year
it bloomed on Summer Solstice!
Exquisite!

Lovely Summer to you All!

Summer Solstice

as we step from spring into summer
fields are bursting with canola flowers

my three poppy buds have opened their petals
in celebration of life

the skies offer beauty that beckons one to walk the woods

finding wild orchids, lady's slipper with one raindrop

this is the first harebell I have seen this season
lovely rosy dots upon it's style

morels like little gnome caps rising from the forest floor

raspberry and purple mushrooms here and there

it is a wonderful planet we call home
with marvelous findings
to meet
and
enjoy

I wish one and all a lovely summer
or
be it winter on the other side

Summer Solstice ~

beautiful Summer is upon us

time to hike into the mountains
to drink aqua waters with our eyes
and spirits

in the high mountains
glacier lilies still bloom
(this one unique with a short stem, rests gently on it's leaves)

along the trails
waterfalls to cool and refresh by

a time of color
vibrant under creek waters

Montana stones, eye candy
that feeds our hearts

winged ones are busy as can be

summer is a busy time
of growth
eating
mating
fruiting
it must all happen before the season once again changes

sitting at the feet of mountains
like sitting with a holy being

summer is a grand time of celebrating life
~

lovely Solstice to you and yours
whether it be summer or winter in your neck of the woods

Happy Summer to You!

journeyed to the NW corner of
Glacier National Park
for Solstice

took to heart wildflowers as they opened to the longest day of the year

walked in a forest where flowers mingled with sun

and shade

the tiny creatures busy as can be

vistas
that inspire pause and  we have water!

 large swallowtails dinning on nectar

greens and blues
summer hues
are abundant

wild strawberries  bring us to our knees
to dine

 Summer has arrived
and
I wish you a lovely summer!
