Happy Solstice to You

spring has been beautiful
wild orchids sprinkle the woods
but you must look for them
as they are not plentiful or obvious

a visitor, only stayed a couple of minutes
(a black bear)

many days involved visiting flowers
(yep, that is me)

some days are spent chasing Red-napped sapsuckers off of my mountain ash tree, and letting them peck for sap on the alders that grow like weeds

fields of flowers make my heart swell with energy
and
appreciation for life

collecting wild roses and herbs for tea
a spiritual elixer

tiny green being, the size of an ant
metallic and busy is a delight to see

bugs galore
visiting my sketch
while sitting in the grass
~
Spring was lovely!
Now to embrace summer and all the gifts it offers.

~
Lovely Solstice to you!
Be it Summer or Winter in your part of the world.

    1. Thank you Sandra.
I loved that orchid too. So healthy and lovely. Usually there are many in that area, but only one stalk this year.
Yes, she does look like she is celebrating in the sketch.
      Sweet summer to you.

  5. The photo of you in the field reminds me of the Wyeth painting, Christina's World, with the beautiful light and sole woman, but here I see one of peace and strength. All beautiful images, Tammie.

    1. Thank you Jeanie. It was so beautiful in that meadow with the Rocky Mountains in the far off and close.

  6. Tammie, these are wonderful photos of spring. I can't pick a favorite. The bug and drawing is so creative. You have so much more green and growing things than we do here in Summit County, CO. Our spring has been snowy, cold, and wet.

You will have green soon! When your fresh snow melts.

  11. Tsmmie Lee, your photos always take me to another place. Oh my, that black bear, what a surprise visit. I really like that picture of you in the field. Your Red-napped sapsuckers are called red-headed Woodpeckers here, and I see them often at the trail. Such a funny bird to watch. The green bug on the Purple flower is just beautiful.

It is Summer here in California, and getting hotter every day. Not my favorite season. But still, there is beauty in all.

  13. Beauties, every one! There is nothing prettier than a field of wildflowers. We have the yellow bellied sapsucker here. It is not as dapper as your sapsucker.

  14. That black bear! Really - so close, and he looks so peaceful! Tammie, I say it again, each time I visit your blog I am in awe. Your world of nature is very different from mine, yours is cool, mine is hot, but both are gorgeous and magnificent and the best thing we have in life (maybe apart from children, grandchildren, friends and so on...) A delight to dwell in your posts...
