A Grace of Snowflakes

 yesterday it did not snow
yet we were given a grace of snowflakes

(above they are on the surface of my frozen creek)

I have never seen frost grow like this, never
and note the one like a hand holding a snowflake

they landed on my wooden steps

 upon my car's windshield

the day before we had a different expression of ice crystals
like roses

one clear evening
the sky touched our hearts

tomorrow is Imbolc:
Gaelic festival marking the beginning of spring

here it does not feel like spring
yet the days are getting longer
in 4 weeks time
most often i will not need to plow snow again
so i will enjoy these winter days
until spring begins to grace our lives

  1. Beautiful as always. Such minutiae is the stuff of life. Imbolc is here and there are some small signs of spring around. Snowdrops, the fair maids of February are out and the wood anemone leaves and arum lily are just poking through.

  2. Spring?! Although we've been having rain and floods lately, instead of snow, it is still winter here, no doubt!:(
So nice to see the perfect structure of the snowflakes in your photos! I like most those on your car's windshield - as if they were stamped. And just think - every single snowflake is unique!!
Wishing you many amazing moments in nature while waiting for the spring, Tammie!:)

  11. Ah! beautiful snowflakes, brought to us through your camera and a steady hand. Glorious! Such a lovely sky to contemplate and enjoy the lengthening of the days. It doesn't feel like spring here yet either. It snowed the whole night and is still snowing now!

  16. These are beautiful, TL. The second to last image seems to have a pair of tiny ice birds facing one another, perched at the tip and on the underside.

  17. Beautiful photos once again.... reminding us that winter can be peaceful and beautiful ♥ I await the days of spring and warm sunshine on my skin :) I will celebrate tomorrows Gaelic spring date by planting my herbal seeds in my indoor seed sprouting spot and some outdoors in the "Winter Sowing " plot.

  22. You are the guru of frost - I've never seen anyone else express its beauty so well. My spring seems quite distant but so far (with some brief trips away from it), I'm enjoying the white.

  23. I was thinking of you ~ and your vision ~ how you see the snow.
This was the other day as large, crystalline snowflakes fell, as if saying, "Look at me! Notice me! See the beauty!"
And I thanks you for reminding us all of these whispers and shouts from Nature.
