Walking across my yard
which is meadow land at the edge of forest
hoping to photograph dragon and damselflies with my macro lens
when I noticed movement
though they were very aware
they didn't seem to notice me
maybe they thought me a tree
maybe they thought me a tree
they wandered into the sunlight
near my feet
foraging
for greens
a couple of them came quite close
this photo is to show you how small they look
I don't think mamma would be to happy with how close they came to me
soon she will have them trained to be more careful
~
I hope you enjoyed these wee critters
they are much better in photos than digging holes in one's yard!

Hello,Tammie,
ReplyDeleteThose squirrels in your yard are adorable! Yes,I see how small they are. I also like the soft sunlight falling on them.
Such a great observation of you and your micro lens!!
Have a good day.
Thank you for enjoying them. I can see them out there again this evening. It must be the time that mamma lets them out.
DeleteThey are so cute! You must have had fun watching and photographing, a pleasant interlude!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, a pleasant interlude.
DeleteWhat a delight to discover this family of ground squirrels. They are so sweet and terribly photogenic through your lens! My favourite shot is number three! I can see how close that baby got to your leg! Yes, mummy squirrel will have to teach her babies about the dangers of the two-legged kind! Not you though, of course!
ReplyDeleteIt is always fun to hear which photo someone likes best. Somehow I get to look at it again anew.
DeleteVery good and beautiful photographic shots.
ReplyDeleteHave a good one, Tammie.
Tomás.
Thank you so much Tomás.
DeleteOf course I enjoyed! How cute they are, and still so trusting! I am sure you felt wonderful! :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, it was a delight and I was curious what they would do when they got to my shoe.
DeleteQUE AMOR!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSALUDITOS
yay, thank you.
DeleteThat's amazing that they were so trusting. I love the photos and the pictures. And they're so darned cute -- well, until they spend the winter in your closed up cottage. We had that experience a few years ago. They were gone when we arrived but they left behind much not to love! (On the other hand, the house had never been so clean after we got it pulled together!)
ReplyDeleteThey really are cute and your photos are -- as always -- magnificent.
I would like to think they are trusting, but I think they thought I was a tree ;-)
DeleteOh dear, in your cottage. That must have been a huge clean up job! I am in the midst of something similar but different. Took everything out of the cabin to put a floor in. So clean clean clean. And more of that when everything comes back in.
Oh my cuteness!!! Love them.
ReplyDeleteme too ;-)
Deleteso cute!!
ReplyDeletethey truly are.
DeleteThey are cute!
ReplyDeleteyep yep
DeleteThey are so adorable - great captures!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Al.
DeleteOh my - they are just too cute!
ReplyDeleteJust adorable.😊
ReplyDeleteA lot of furry critters out and about here too. Enjoying our beautiful spring weather.🌞

They are cute little buggers but I have way too many of them in my yard and the eat all of the fruit off of my trees and anything else they can get their little hands on :( They are not my friends anymore.
ReplyDeleteI do understand Carol. Most people feel that way. They can take out an entire garden, fruit trees, make holes that animals and people hurt themselves in.
DeleteBeautiful photos Tammie Lee! How did I miss your other blog???? I'm so glad I found it! :) And I'm so happy to see your profile picture of you looking so beautiful and happy! :))
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found it too. Thank you.
DeleteThey are so cute! Looks like they enjoy posing.
ReplyDeleteSummer is crazy wild and oh so cute your way, loving all your latest shots! xx
ReplyDeleteDear Tammie - How small and cute! You really captured such lovely moment and my favorite is the third image. When such a pleasant surprise occurs, I might surprise them back from my excitement, but you were calm and collected. I laughed to read “maybe they thought me a tree.” The one in the last image looks starting at you, standing like a short bush. I wonder if two of you had eye contact. Thank you for sharing such precious experiences.
ReplyDeleteYoko
Thank you for your lovely message Yoko. It is fun to consider if they understand our eye contact or if I am merely a tree when not moving. They are so small and the world is so large for them to get to know. What their mamma's teach them is so much of their experience.
DeleteThank you for your lovely messages every one!
ReplyDeleteI love the last one - looks as though it is about to speak to you...but then maybe it did!
ReplyDeleteI think the little critter was trying to figure me out.
DeleteThe squirrels are so interesting to watch. I love taking pictures of them, but I must say that they scare me a bit. This little fellow looks mischievous, doesn't he?
