Oyster Mushrooms

Yum yum

it is oyster mushroom season

in our area they grow on dead or dying aspen or cottonwood trees

I have found them in three places this week

get out and wander

they burst through the bark and grow fairly fast, a few days and ready to harvest

These are growing in my yard on a dead aspen tree
this tree not only hosts mushrooms,
there is a hairy woodpecker family nesting,
bugs
bats
moss
lichen
an entire realm going on in this tree

if i had found them in the woods
I doubt I could have reached
yet here at home
a ladder and then a long rake
did the job

Evidence of Spring

Throughout the day, my inner voice whispered.... take a walk, look for morels. They were beckoning.

I wandered the places where in past years I found one here, one there..... nope. Then a wee village of morels appeared before me. Imagine my delight. Just enough to add a kiss to dinner.

Did I hear them calling, absolutely. Did I also know that the earth has finally warmed to a temperature that they like to fruit and that spring is their season, yes to this also.

Does this all feel like magic, indeed it is. The magic of listening with heart and spirit, no different than listening to a friend tell their tale.

Instincts and intuition enrich life in an intimate way.

Listen to and honor your inner whispers.

Spring flowers are bringing heartfelt joy,

the lovely pasque:

Sweet yellow bells:

Always an awe filled delight to see the Great gray owl:

We love our trilliums, I love how there is a light area where the stem of the flower rises from the leaves, it catches my eye:

Spring is more obvious daily

inspiring hope, delight and awe.

I hope this finds you enjoying the details of new life as I am.

Lovely spring to you!

Late Spring into The Beginning of Summer

It has been a long since posting here.
I post on Instagram regularly, in case you are interested.

The male cones of the Lodgepole pines were heavy laden with pollen.
We have had many big storms which brought down seemingly endless trees.
One of my 6 trees that came down was a pine and a perfect opportunity to harvest pollen and explore super-food medicine making with it.

I gently shook the branch so you could see how much comes off a gentle shake.
It was a time intensive experience. So lovely to be in the woods, collecting the male cones, serenaded by the birds and amazing scent of pine trees.

wild orchids are blooming, some have come and gone,
the lovely ladyslipper:

summer light igniting a new born leaf:

a new find along the ponds shore,
I have learned they are snail eggs:

A deer ate that one along with the plant
but there are more
I hope to see the snails arrive
tiny treasures abound

This might be a newborn snail from one of the egg sacks?
It was on the end of a blade of grass
~

I wish you all a lovely summer.
I hope to post more often, time will tell.
