Crystalline Colonies

night temperatures drop
moisture in the earth
rises like a phoenix
in the form
of
thin delicate
lacy ice
geometric columns inches in height
breathe gently
amongst this fragile beauty
~

these were taken two days ago

our lovely Spring

Watery Facets

like water
one's path is the way

flowing as a river
creek or rain

held for a time like ice
frost or snow

still like a

pond or lake
 

sometimes a dance
of ocean or sea

perhaps
it is wise to embrace
the watery facets
of one's life
~

River Otter

 

Circling Circle

whirling

twirling

circling circle of

ice

dancing in the rivers tides

for now

the dance is in one place

yet mix of sun and rivers dance

invite the ice

to blend and find another form

later this day

we only find

that water flows

and ice no more

~

 

We stood on the bank watching this large circle swirl, round and round. 

On the far side we heard and saw a river otter. Both rare and wonderful sightings. 

We watched the otter and the otter watched us.

a passing cloud gracefully shifts our gaze
resting on shadows

this life

opening to the vast mystery
an endless creative force
a universe of possibilities
thrives within my core
images of a night sky
filled with twinkling stars
forever one can wander to the edges oh so far
to see oneself in all of life
opens a magic door

Morning Stroll

nights dipping temperatures
freeze the skin on ponds
and creeks
geometric ice grows through the night
morning stroll through woods
to see the sights

as daytime warms
each and every moment
transforms
this glory of
hard edged crystals
they soften
then melt

slabs of ice break free
music like chimes dance through forest
and meadow
spring is alive
touching every particle
of water air earth
me

behold
a fresh footprint
of newly awakened bear
bear was here before me
enlivened I glance around
following each paw print
weaving through the trees
right to my home!

wandering through the woods will be a different
journey from now on
