June Snow
This morning I awoke with only hints of yesterdays snow fall, a few patches on the earth and my van window. June 10th and it snowed! This is a first for me. I awoke to the sound of rain or was it hail, it was sleet. Then the temperatures dropped and sleet became snow. The lush green earth that made me feel as though I was in a rain forest was suddenly dressed in white. I was sure to take a walk, day and night amongst the snow falling through the sky, it could be months before I can do that again. I noticed a metallic smell in the air, so different from a winter snow. What that smell was I may never know. Yet the stillness of the earth dressed in snow was mine as I walked a midst the pines in June.

Awesome photographs: the toadstool is positively Tolkienesque. At the end of my first (and sadly and regretfully only, thus far) trip to Glacier, I was run out by a snowstorm that swooped in after four days of glorious shorts and t-shirt weather. Not that the snow wasn't magnificent in its own way.
ReplyDeletemurat11,
ReplyDeleteSounds like you got an authentic experience of Montana, ever changing weather!
Such beautiful photos. That first one has such an ethereal quality, and the others - mmm. Wonderful. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are AMAZING! That little mushroom stole my heart. I think the smell in the air was a result of nature saying, what the hell?! I can't believe it snowed, you have my condolences.
ReplyDeleteT, there was snow and hail in our rain few days ago. Last year at this time the strawberries had been out for two or three weeks. Look at the rest of the mainland, hot, oh so hot! Our mother-Earth is calling to us to join hands in a sacred dance. Can you hear? Me kealoha pumehane.
ReplyDeleteReally? June snow? Wow, I'm speechless. Amazing pictures, well done. And your description is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteToday was the first really hot day over here, above 25º but your post refreshed my night :)

ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteI have always heard a voice asking us to care for our planet and one another. Seems like common sense, decency, care, live in balance, be kind, listen deeply and share from your heart.
It's always such a respite to stop by here -- I don't think I would have been quite so appreciative of a snow in June before having seen these gorgeous pictures. Thanks so much!

These four photos are fantastic Tammie with the fresh snow and water accenting and doubling the beauty that already exists in the world. We essentially are what we focus on. And these pictures are you.
