Autumn Forest

autumn colors beckon
wander and see

though the edges are divine
they call:
step into me

step over logs and bush
duck under arms of trees

breathe
the cool crisp refined air

eventually returning
to the edges

it has been a gorgeous autumn
the colors
the mix of weather
the big fat moon in a starry sky

colors are changing fast
some beyond their height of bright color

leaves dance through the air
blanketing the earth
floating on water
a time that inspires ones senses to come to life

lovely days and nights to you

Gorgeous Autumn

gorgeous autumn weather beckoned
come camp in me

trails enticed to be walked on

the colors were thrilling
literally

leaves illumined
offered sunlight
with gentle brilliance

paths as sacred trails
to take one deeply into the land

sweet clouds appeared around mountain tops
like breath

the sort of
weather
color
and
walk
one dreams of in autumn

~
I feel so thankful to have been there

Within an Ancient Forest

wandering
amongst your trunks
dressed in dappled light

serenade of bubbling brook

 forest a mighty delight

one
creative weaver
a dance all of its own
heading for the spacious air
blue skies and light above
~

just look at this wonderful curvy tree
dressed in tender greens
and fungi
~

does anyone know what kind of lichen this is?
it was soft like lettuce
I am sorry i did not take a good photo of it,
this is a cropped image and so it is blurry:

Tucked at your Ankles

wind is howling through the forest
reminiscent of a raging river
yet tucked at the ankles of trees
my experience is more the wispy caress
of a breeze

my spirit mingles with the land
like fingers of trickling water
seeping into the earth
hair flying with the wind
makes the sky my dancing friend

dark chocolate and huckleberries in my mouth
I close my eyes
there is nowhere else
I would rather be

Paths Lined with Flowers

It's raining it's pouring
Summer is dressed in glory
thick coat of green
jewels made of rain
ornate with budding trees
flowers and mushrooms
tell her story
~

For over a week we have experienced a mix of sun and rain daily. The lush bounty of Summer green and flowers continues to paint our world. Wishing you all a wonderful Summer~

Deep Thirst

within lies an eternal spring
a substance akin to
breath and light
rest gentle upon its edges
sense the spaciousness of its
presence
let the waters of the spring
quench your deep thirst

Bear Grass

We've had a lovely week,
blue skies that release the warm scents of summer.

Bear Grass

flowers like bright torches
illuminated in sunlight
ignite the forest floor
drawing us to their beauty
also true
of you
a light
that shines brightly as you carpet the earth
sharing your unique qualities
precious and worthy
touching hearts
as you go

Tolerance or To Be with What Is

Sunday Scribblings and One Single Impression are two writing prompts that are wonderful muses. I enjoy visiting the writers who participate and you might too. Today's prompts are: 'disconnected' and 'tolerance'. In this moment they seem to go together.

It has been said that the earth
can only briefly endure
life out of balance
disconnection
with her inhabitants
then she will shake and quake
burn and flood
Is this not the truth with all life

To walk
to breath
with lack of awareness
with a heart not present
will surely inspire
a life on fire with floods

Kneeling on the forest floor
mind stills
to listen
chicory chatting a wild tale
birds singing
day a soothing warm
breeze enlivening cool
world greener every day
flowers begin to bloom
as spring deepens

Simply
life comes into balance

Is she truly intolerant of our life out of balance
or is it her way to lay languid and purr
in the heat of the day
only to flood and quake the next

To be connected with the earth we walk upon
can be as simple as
relaxing
into her presence

Perhaps

awakening from a long deep sleep called winter:

Perhaps

Have you ever
heard a word
spoken in such a tone
that the sound
defined beautifully
perfectly
the essence
of the word
it is rare
yet oh so possible
perhaps this is how
words were meant to be spoken

Brief Morning Light

sun rarely graces us with its presence
daylight begins with
sugar-like snow falling from the sky
turning to flakes like feathers floating to the earth
transforming to snow like confetti
filling the air
snowflakes fly by
as fast as birds
dancing in all directions
spring is here and snow piles on each and every limb
the ongoing kiss of winters farewell

This Old Tree

time passes
wind thrashes
rains feed they pound
winter storms nestle in every crevice
lightening attacks with a mighty whack
freezing ice expands in every crack
critters burrow
they thrive within
sun feeds as well it ages
this old tree
still it is home to many
many become a feast to others
time passes

Form

Love in the form of life

Life in the form of breath

Dance in the form of wind

Laugh in the form of a fawns prance

Flight in the form of a hawk

Growth in the form of crystals

Beauty in the form of a flower

Wisdom in the form of a tree

Patience in the form of a rock

Wildness in the form of wolverine

Serenity in the form of the rising sun

Bliss in the setting one

Drink in the form of a raindrop

Food in the form of a kiss

You in the form of me

Me in the form of you

All life in a single snowflake

then melting

to be born again

Blessed by the presence of Sunlight

The sun came out to light up our world
a few times this week
and
we got fresh glorious snow

pink can be a glorious offering
when she dances
with sunlight
clouds
and snow

and pink
mixed with golds
is something we all should get to know

I saw the SKY!

This is my fourth winter. You read that right, the kind of winter with weather, snow, lots of gray days, ice and ice crystals, barely feeling the warmth of the sun for up to five months. Before these four years my life was in Southern California. Don't get me wrong, winter exists there, well all the folks with obvious seasons chuckle over that, I know. The seasons down south are more SUBTLE. Anyway, it has been gray for gosh... ten days at LEAST. I have not been my normal cheery self for about two months, for a number of reasons. I am guessing the lack of sun had it's effect in my more fragile state of being. With the encouragement of a friend I drove up to our ski mountain to get above the clouds. Now that was a brilliant suggestion! My spirit lifted immediately. The light went right in my eyes and touched my heart and my spirit was light and cheerful. Twas amazing to witness and feel this! Here is an image from up there:

Then I drove back down into the Flathead Valley, back into the clouds.....
Not much light, but I found beauty:

I went into a store, came out to find the sun and blue skies!!!
Here are sunset images:

Glimpse of a week of winter skies

Morning sunlight is subtle
it pours through a thin layer of off white clouds
all is painted in pearlescent light
soft shadows of gray show off
impressions left in the crusty surface of snow
who passed when I was not here
will they pass when I am some day
there is enough warmth in this frozen morning
to release the scent of the trees
I walk inhaling
feeling the scent permeate my insides
I feel as though a tree now lives
within

home:

heading up the N.Fork, I love how I can see the lines of the hills in winter:

there's no road under that snow! I have to say 'tis a lovely place to wait to be rescued. Seven people stopped to ask if I need help, the last person with skill, was able to pull me out. I love Montana!:

in town:

sunset can takes ones breath away
replacing it with light:
